Westmeath County Council is to launch a public consultation over a major development of lands at Loughanaskin near Athlone.
The masterplan includes proposals for a new urban quarter which will adjoin the town centre.
Following an earlier phase of community consultation, Westmeath county council has revealed a master plan for the area.
Proposed plans include the development of a new commercial zone that will feature state-of-the-art offices as well as a residential zone that will offer a mix of urban style houses.
A recreation and amenity space is also planned with a pedestrian friendly connection between the Town Centre and Old Rail Trail greenway included.
An in-person public exhibition which will take place on Thursday May 26th from 3pm to 7pm in the Athlone Civic Centre.
Locals are encouraged to browse the proposals and engage with members of the design team on the day.
The public are then invited to take part in the consultation by completing a survey on loughanaskin.ie before Thursday June 9th.
