Planning permission has been granted to construct walking and cycling trails in Co. Longford.
The development by Bord na Mona Energy Limited includes the repurposing of 5.2km on an existing former rail bed with the construction of car parking facilities at a number of gateway locations along the route.
Some of the gateway locations include Knappogue Bog Amenity Trail, Lanesborough and the townland of Begnagh.

The project also includes the erection of wayfinding and interpretive signage at Gateway locations whilst fencing and screening will be erected where required for health and safety and biodiversity reasons.
