Plaque unveiled to honour late councillors' work at Leitrim water amenity

The centre initially opened with the first ever heated outdoor swimming pool in Connaught, as well as a playground and tennis court.

A ceremony took place in Drumshanbo to honour the work of two late councillors.
A plaque was unveiled at Acres Lake Amenity centre to celebrate 40 years since its establishment in 1971, and the vision of councillors Joseph and Eva Mooney, whose vision completed its development.
The centre initially opened with the first ever heated outdoor swimming pool in Connaught, as well as a playground and tennis court.

Since then, new features have been added, including a visitor's centre and cruiser access from Acres Lake into Lough Allen.
A great number of people across Drumshanbo united yesterday to celebrate the couple's work, which has been a source of economic success for the region since 1971.
The son of Councillor Joseph Mooney and former member of Seanad Éireann, Paschal Mooney, said his family is proud of the legacy the councillors left in the community:
