A local general election candidate says there should be fewer councillors in Ireland - but they should be paid more money.
Independent councillor Marie Casserly was eliminated on the eighth count in Sligo-Leitrim on Sunday, with almost 3,500 votes.
The Sligo woman is calling for reform of local government.
Councillors are currently paid €28,000 a year and she believes that's too little for the work involved.
She has been speaking to our reporter Eoghan Murphy, and first reflected on her performance in the general election.
