PODCAST: Thousands of Shannonside homes to have no electricity overnight

Thousands of homes and businesses in the Shannonside region face being without power overnight, after damage caused by Storm Darragh.

Almost 31,000 are currently without electricity in Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon.

An ESB spokesman said: "Power restoration will continue late into the evening but significant numbers may be without supply for a number days.

"Due to the severity and significant scale of the damage some customers could be without power for approximately a week."
