Two Poet Laureates have been announced for Strokestown, and Carrick-on-Shannon as part of the Poetry Towns initiative.
The project overs 20 towns across the country where poetry-related activities will take place between the 10th and the 18th of next month.
Noelle Lynskey is appointed for Strokestown, and Vincent Woods for Carrick-on-Shannon.
All poet laureates announced today are either from the local areas or have good connections with them.
They've been commissioned to write a poem honouring and reflecting their Poetry Town and its people.
As part of the Poetry Town celebrations next month, each person will reveal and present their poem to the people of the town at a series of online flagship events.
