The race for a seat in the 34th Dáil is officially under way, with voting starting at 7 o’clock this morning.

Over 250,000 people can vote in today’s general election in constituencies in the Shannonside region. Polling stations will stay open until 10 o’clock tonight. The race for a seat in the 34th Dáil is officially under way, with voting starting at 7 o’clock this morning. 173 TDs will be elected over the coming days, including 12 in the Shannonside region. There are 11 candidates in the Roscommon-Galway constituency – six in Galway and five in Roscommon – and three seats are up for grabs.

Almost 63,000 people are signed up to vote in 124 polling stations across the constituency. Over 94,000 people are eligible to vote in 201 polling boxes in Sligo-Leitrim, where 18 candidates are vying for four seats. 12 of the candidates are in Sligo, five in Leitrim and one in Co Roscommon. Close to 100,000 people can vote in the 176 polling stations in Longford-Westmeath, where 20 candidates will go in search of five seats. 15 of the candidates are in Westmeath and five are in Longford. People can vote even if they don’t have their polling card, as long as they have photo ID and are on the electoral register.
