A Ballinasloe nursing home has received high marks following a recent HIQA inspection.
The HSE run Ballinalsoe Community Nursing Unit on the Creagh Road was the subject of an unannounced inspection in November.
The unit consists of fifty beds, located between two care areas called the Clontuskert and Clonfert suites providing empowering and supportive care to residents
There were 42 residents in the centre on the day of the inspection, with inspectors describing the initial impression as visibly clean and well maintained throughout. Service users were observed enjoying communal meals and a range of social activities during the inspection. The report released by HIQA today shows 11 full compliances and three substantial compliances in the areas of residents rights, fire precautions and resident registries. Service user privacy was one area identified as in need of attention over issues with privacy screening in twin rooms. In the area of fire precautions, gaps in fire doors between the door itself and the frame were observed when in the closed position.
The directory of residents did not contain the necessary detail of all the current residents in the centre, with some residents not included in maintained lists.
Following the inspection, HSE management confirmed that works were underway to resolve the issues identified.
