Members of a local Tidy Towns group say there are some positive signs regarding Ash Die Back. Carrick-on-Shannon Tidy Towns say a small percentage of trees are showing signs of resistance to the disease. They have decided to take action and have set up a conservation project in an attempt to save the ash trees.
The Carrick-on-Shannon Ash Tree Conservation Project aims to raise awareness in Counties Leitrim and Roscommon. Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound News, John Gaffey, has called on farmers and landowners to join the fight to save the trees:
