Longford Community Safety Partnership has received an award for an innovative and powerful road safety initiative.
The Children's Court sees Garda Roads Policing Units set up outside schools and offer those caught speeding the chance to avoid a fine and penalty points.
The offer sees the motorists appear before a children's court comprised of 5th and 6th class students.
The students question the motorist and educate them on the risks associated with speeding.
The initiative was recognised at the RSA Leading Light Award, which highlight an organisation's commitment to promoting road safety and making communities a safer place for everyone.
