A local councillor has paid tribute to families in Leitrim who have campaigned tirelessly for a care home for people with disabilities. It comes as the HSE confirmed it had agreed to purchase a property to be used as a residential facility. The much-needed facility will located in the south of the county and it follows years of campaigning by local families.
Fianna Fáil Councillor Gary Prior says the news has come as a major relief for those with disabilities and their families. Speaking to Shannonside News, he said he hopes works can now start in the New Year:
