Pregnant women from the Shannonside region are being encouraged to register for a Covid 19 vaccine.
The advice to get a vaccine follows recent observational studies which show it minimises the risk of complications or stillbirth in a pregnancy particularly in the later stages of pregnancy.
The mRNA vaccine is being recommended for women between 14 and 36 weeks gestation who can contact dedicated teams in the maternity units in Portiuncula, Galway, Sligo and Mullingar.
Dr Deirdre Grady is the Medical Lead for the Vaccination Programme for the West and North West.
