A Co Roscommon woman is preparing to return to Ireland after her travel ban in Dubai was lifted yesterday.
Ballaghaderreen native Tori Towey was detained there after being charged with attempted suicide and alcohol consumption, after escaping an alleged attack by her husband.
The Irish government intervened and she is now allowed to return to Boyle, where she had lived in recent years.
The Irish Embassy is arranging transport to bring her to the airport in Dubai and the charges have been dropped.
Former mayor of Boyle, Jane Suffin, says people in north Roscommon are delighted with the positive outcome.
