Representatives of the nursing home sector say plans need to get underway for the rollout of the booster vaccines for residents in nursing homes across the Shannonside Northers Sound region.
It comes as NIAC approves the administration of the vaccine for people whose immune systems are compromised.
A Longford nursing home this week confirmed that over a dozen residents tested positive for Covid at Laurel Lodge nursing home - as well as more than four staff.
It's understood that the outbreak has occurred in people already fully vaccinated and symptoms are mostly mild.
