Businesses in Carrick-on-Shannon are hoping plans for a long-awaited bypass of the town continue next year.
It's expected the project will go to planning early next year and will open around 2030.
It will include a 6 kilometre bypass of the town, going from the Dublin Road to the Boyle Road.
The president of Carrick Chamber, Finola Armstrong-McGuire, says the project is badly needed because of heavy traffic crossing the Shannon.
