The priest who died in a county Cork tragedy yesterday afternoon has been named as Fr Con Cronin, who served in the parish of Castlerea.
The 72 year old died when Bus Éireann driver Mark Wils suffered a suspected fatal heart attack, lost control of his bus, struck and fatally injured him.
It's understood Fr Cronin, who was serving as curate in the Harbour Parishes of Passage West and Monkstown, had moved the local sacristan whom he was with out of the path of the bus, before he was struck.
Fr. Con served in the parish of Castlerea for a period of time back in 1999.
He is described as very popular priest, who was larger than life and connected with everyone he met.
