All physical family visits to Castlerea Prison and Loughan House have been suspended from today until Monday January 24th.
The Irish Prison Service says visits at prisons nationwide between these dates are now cancelled
Video visits will continue to operate as normal during this period and prisoners will be entitled to receive 1 video visit per week.
The Irish Prison Service says it's aware of the importance of visits to prisoners and their families.
However, it had to cancel visits due to the widespread community transmission of Covid 19.
