Proceeds of crime seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau in Longford are set to be re-invested locally as part of the new pilot policing scheme in the county.
The new community policing model was launched late last year by the Justice Minister, in a bid to develop closer links with groups to tackle criminal and anti-social issues.
The scheme in Longford is due to get underway later this year and will eventually replace the current Joint Policing Committee model.
As part of the pilot, Helen McEntee has confirmed that any monetary assets seized by CAB in Longford will be diverted to a special Community Safety fund which the partnership can then apply to for projects and initiatives
