House prices across the Shannonside region have experienced a double-digit rise since last year.
The finding comes from a recent analysis by the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers, published in the latest Sunday Independent.
The institute provided a breakdown of house prices across the country from January to July 2024 and compared current prices to what they were in the same period last year.
2-bed apartments in Co. Longford have seen a price jump of 17.8%, the highest in the region, with the average price of one currently at €106,000.
Meanwhile, the average price of a 3-bed semi-detached house in the county is €200,000, and a 4-bed costs an average of €230,000 this year.
Leitrim is the county where a 4-bed semi-detached home costs the most in the region, at just over €248,000 on average.
The price has seen an increase of 12.9% since the same time last year.
Co. Roscommon holds the cheapest property prices in the country so far, where the price of a 4-bed home currently stands at €228,750.
The three counties are typically among the cheapest markets, but this sharp house-price inflation shows that buyers are opting to purchase more affordable homes away from the country's urban centres.
