The proposals for a long-awaited bypass of Carrick-on-Shannon will go on public display today. It would involve a new 5.8km road being developed from Lisseeghan on the Dublin Road to Drumharlow on the Boyle Road. The project team will show the proposals to the public in the Landmark Hotel in Carrick between 12 noon and 8pm today.
It's hoped the road will be complete by 2030. Local businessman Fintan Cox says the N4 upgrade is badly needed because of severe traffic congestion in Cortober:
