Protesters claim a planned €8 million revamp of Strokestown will result in the 'closure' of the town - due to a sharp reduction in car parking. Around 200 people attended a demonstration in the area on Sunday afternoon, against the state's public realm enhancement scheme.
Residents and business owners are concerned car parking will be reduced by up to 90 per cent, if the plan isn't changed. Strokestown woman Mona Kelly attended the protest and says the revamp is crazy:
