Members of the 2nd Brigade Artillery Regiment based in Athlone are taking to the streets of towns across the region today as part of a special fundraiser.
Gunners of all ranks in the regiment will be pushing a 105mm Heavy Artillery Gun by hand through Ballymahon, Longford, Mullingar and Athlone.
The 1 and a half tonne artillery piece will be make its way through the towns starting in Ballymahon this morning from 9.30.
The Defence Forces are urging the public to come out and support the gunners and donate to the fundraiser.
Money raised on the day will go towards the Defence Forces Benevolent Fund and the Ukrainian Refugee Appeal.
