Areas of Carrick on Shannon were badly affected by flooding in 2009 and 2015

Four options are being proposed and the public are being invited to share their thoughts on them at a public consultation next week.

The first public consultation meeting will take place in the Bush Hotel in Carrick on Shannon next Monday.

OPW Minister Patrick O' Donovan was in Ballinasloe and Athlone this week to meet groups and talk abut flood defence plans

The meeting will be held in The Bush Hotel.

Members of the public are being urged to attend and contribute to the future development of the resource.

Hundreds of submissions were made last year on the proposed N4 upgrade between Dromod and Carrick-on-Shannon.

Minister O'Donovan says they will take into account the views of those at risk.
