Members of the public and community groups will have four weeks to send submissions over the plan to Longford County Council.

The Longford Draft County Development Plan 2021 to 2027 is to be opened for public consultation next month.

At a special meeting of Longford County Council yesterday, councillors voted to open the plan to public submissions from Mid July.

County Development plans set out a framework for sustainable development in the county while considering the protection of the natural and built environment.

Regulations on issues such as rezoning, climate change, tourism and infrastructure are set out for the next 6 years.

The public will be allowed to have their say on the plan, with submissions opening from July 12th to mid-August on the Longford County Council website.

The Ardagh Preservation Society is seeking to change recommendations included in the draft plan calling for the rezoning of Ardagh House and Demesne.
