A major online survey is being launched today looking for the public's views on major regeneration plans for Athlone town centre.
Westmeath County Council is hoping to gather public opinion on a number of schemes it has been working on in the town for the last number of years; targeting key areas.
Sean Costello Street, Loughanaskin and the Westside Athlone Tourism and Cultural Quarter all are earmarked for major works by the council in the coming years and the survey is designed to work in conjunction with the proposals.
The survey, which comprises of around 40 questions, will close to submission on April 22nd next.
Cathaoirleach of the Council, and Athlone Councillor Frankie Keena believes it's a major opportunity for town residents to have a key input into regeneration plans:
''From the general public to people in the west side of town to people on the east side of town and what they would like to see progress being made in relation to Athlone tourism and cultural quarter.
So if people would like to see more kind of street streetscape enhancements, if you're looking for better footpaths, things like that, we want the public to engage with us on this because this is their opportunity to make a written submission or fill out the online survey. ''
