The Director of Public Health in the North West says he is satisfied the rise of cases of Covid-19 in Leitrim is under control.
Dr Anthony Breslin 3was responding as the county recorded the highest level of positive cases in the last two weeks since the Spring; 26 people have tested positive for the virus between the 3rd and 16th of September.
While the actual numbers are still very low, the county has the third-highest incident rate in the country 81.1. based on cases per 100,000 of the population.
Speaking on Let's Talk this afternoon, Dr Anthony Breslin says the public health advice of isolating when sick is critical, and is calling on people to ensure they wash their hands, wear face coverings where required, and minimise social contacts including at people's homes.
He says it's important to realise that Leitrim is similar to other counties in terms of the chance encounters that can result in transmission of the disease.
