The public are being invited to a public meeting of Roscommon County Council's Joint Policing Committee this evening.
Garda personnel will be in attendance at the Abbey Hotel in Roscommon town from 7.30pm to answer queries from the public in how they can better protect their property from criminals.
There will also be a number of stands available at the meeting where the public will be able to gain information from agencies such as the Public Participation Network (PPN), the local Family Resource Centre network and Roscommon Age Friendly Programme & Roscommon Older People's Network.
Tonight's meeting is expected to especially focus on the issues of domestic abuse and road safety and a presentation on the night will be delivered by Linda Walsh of Roscommon Safelink.
Tom Crosby is chair of the JPC and feels the issue of domestic violence is one of special importance:
"In relation to Linda, her contribution will focus on the science and understanding of domestic abuse supports that are available and an update on current domestic violence statistics."
