Public meeting to discuss housing of refugees at former Cuisle site

A spokesperson for the Department confirmed that the facility is currently being used to accommodate 26 people fleeing the war in Ukraine.

A public meeting is set to take place next Monday to discuss the future use of the former Cuisle site at Donamon Castle in Co. Roscommon. According to the Divine Word Missionaries, the Department of Integration have asked for the possible use of the building to accommodate asylum seekers.

A spokesperson for the Department confirmed that the castle is currently being used to accommodate 26 people fleeing the war in Ukraine. Cuisle, which was a respite care resort, was closed in Donamon back in 2019. Local Councillor Anthony Waldron says he would like to see the centre restored:
