The chairman of a local GAA club says the new traffic system in Rooskey is "an accident waiting to happen". The village's historic bridge normally has no specific area for walkers to cross the Shannon. Local councils are trialling a new system, with a pedestrian walkway.
It has a one-way system for drivers on the bridge, with new traffic lights. But, speaking to Shannonside News, the chairman of Kilglass Gaels, Niall Kilcrann, says it's a disaster:
A public meeting is taking place on Monday night to discuss residents’ concerns about the issue. It’s taking place in Rooskey Community Centre at 8.30 and is organised by Rooskey Residents Association.
Roscommon and Leitrim council representatives have been invited to attend.
