Artists welcome the return of gigs, but some say "it's too little, too late"

Buses, trains and trams are able to operate at 100 percent capacity for the first time in almost 18 months from today.

The rise from 75 percent had been expected early last month, but was delayed due to concerns over the Delta variant.

Artists are cautiously welcoming the return of gigs, though some says "it's too little, too late" for the live events sector.

From September 6th, organised indoor events are permitted to 60 percent capacity while outdoor events can allow 75 percent attendance, for those who are vaccinated.

Where there is mixed immunity at events, there will be a 50 percent capacity limit with social distancing and facemasks in use.

The Tanaiste says facemask's will not be required in the offices from October 22nd.

That's the date when almost all remaining Covid-19 restrictions will be lifted, as the country moves to a personal responsibility model.

The phased return to offices begins on September 20th, with employers to be given updated guidance on how it can be managed in the coming weeks.

Tanaiste Leo Varadkar says most of the rules around mask wearing will be removed next month.
