People across Leitrim and the wider region who have septic tanks on their properties are being urged to register them with their local authority.
It was announced this morning that the grant for septic tank upgrades will be increased from €5,000 to €12,000 euro from the start of next year.
As they are not connected to public sewerage systems, septic tanks must be registered with local authorities to ensure it is not posing a risk to the public and environment.
