A public consultation is underway in Leitrim about a new Blueway of 8.5 kilometres alongside the Shannon from Carrick-on-Shannon to Battlebridge.
The project would involve a high-quality cycle and walkway linking Carrick-on-Shannon, Leitrim Village and Battlebridge lock.
This would then connect to the existing Blueway between Battlebridge and Acres Lake at Drumshanbo.
The Public Consultation will be carried out by posting information leaflets and questionnaires with stamped addressed envelopes.
The process began yesterday and observations or submissions can be made by post or e-mail before Friday the 25th of this month.
