The public is being warned that they could face significant delays at Mullingar Hospital's ED this afternoon due to a high number of people presenting with illnesses.
Management at the hospital has confirmed that the Emergency Department is extremely busy with attendances this afternoon and the hospital teams are working to manage the current In-Patient and Covid-19 Bed Capacity.
The Ireland east hospital group is asking patients to consider their options before attending the Emergency Department and are warning that if someone does present to the ED and are not triaged as seriously ill, you may need to wait for a long period to be seen.

People are also being asked to attend the ED alone if possible.
