Covid-19 infection rates in county Longford remain one of the highest nationwide according to updated figures from the HSE.
Longford is joined at the top of the scale with Offaly and Kildare, while Leitrim remains the county with the lowest level of virus transmission across the country. 141 cases of Covid 19 have been detected in Longford in the last 14 days with the majority being recorded in the Longford Municipal District.
Both the entire county and the Longford LEA currently have some of the highest levels of virus transmission nationwide, with Longford the only county in the Shannonside Northern Sound region with an incidence rate over the national average
In Roscommon, 63 cases of Coronavirus have been detected over the last two weeks, with the Boyle Local Electoral Area responsible for the majority of detections.
Elsewhere in the Shannonside Northern Sound region, Cavan and Monaghan are both reporting 14 day incidence rates below the national average with 54 and 50 new cases of the virus reported respectively over the past fortnight.
In Cavan, the Cavan-Belturbet MD is accounting for the majority of cases in the last 14 days with 30 cases reported. While the Monaghan and Carrickmacross-Castleblayney LEAs have had 22 cases of Covid-19 confirmed in the last 2 weeks.
Leitrim remains one of the counties nationwide with the lowest rates of new Covid cases with an incidence rate of just 34 and countywide new cases of only 12 or less over two weeks. It comes as no new deaths and 582 new cases of Covid 19 were confirmed yesterday.
