Rates increase and new civic offices included in Longford budget

Fianna Fáil councillor Seamus Butler said it was an 'expansionary budget', increasing by 7 million euro from 2024.

Longford County Council will commence construction of new civic offices in the next four years. The long-mooted building has been included in the local authority's budget for 2025. A 5 per cent increase in rates was also announced at the annual meeting on Monday, but will not apply to smaller businesses.

Fianna Fáil councillor Seamus Butler said it was an 'expansionary budget', increasing by 7 million euro from 2024. Speaking to Shannonside News, he said the Budget for 2025 represents a 'record expenditure' for the council:
