Rathmoyle graveyard committee admit disbelief at theft of gates

A Roscommon graveyard committee is appealing to anyone who may be approached to buy silver gates to contact the gardai.

Castlerea gardai are investigating the theft of two five foot silver gates stolen from Rathmoyle graveyard in Kilmurray, between Castlerea and Tulsk earlier this week.

Anyone who might have noticed a van or truck being driven in any suspicious manner in the area is being asked to contact the garda station.

The committee had only installed the gates two years ago - member Sean Rafferty says they are very shocked that people would steal from a graveyard.
