Over 2,000 people were admitted to hospital on trolleys across the Shannonside region last month.
New figures from the INMO Trolley Watch reveal that February was the worst month on record for hospital overcrowding.
University Hospital Galway was among the worst affected, with 1,019 patients left waiting.
It was followed by Sligo University Hospital with 779, Portiuncula Hospital with 250, and Mullingar's Midland Regional Hospital with 40 in February alone.
So far this year, over 25,000 patients nationwide have been admitted without a bed.
The INMO has called for urgent action to address the crisis.
