Several dozen refugees are now based in County Roscommon since the war began over 100 days ago

County Leitrim has taken in over 500 refugees so far.

Aidan Geraghty says Ukrainians who had the means have been able to travel to safety in recent months but more vulnerable people are still trapped in many parts of the country

Several other shops run on the same basis have opened across the country in recent weeks.

The hotel is one of the best known in County Leitrim with around 60 rooms.

The Red Cross will have to assess the offers before giving them the green light.

Geraldine says the problem of transport is a serious one for people who arrive from Ukraine and are accomodated in rural areas with no real access to any kind of public transport

The discussions between the current owners and the Irish Red Cross are at an early stage.
