Roscommon County Councils refusal of permission for alterations to a wind turbine plan has been upheld by the higher planning authority.
Peter Gillooly had sought permission to make adjustments to granted turbines at Derrane & Roxborough earlier this year.
The amendments had sought a range of adjustments including the change of turbine models, which would increase the T1 hub height to 95.5 metres and increase the blade tip height to 164.6 metres.
Turbine 2 would have had a hub height and blade tip height of 81 metres and 150 metres respectively.
Also included in the planning application was the relocation of underground electric cabling, relocation of the access road and the installation of a transformer and battery storage unit.
Roscommon County Planners refused the application for amendments to the original planning permission in October last year.
Both the previously accepted permission and the newer application for amendments were the subject of several submissions from locals.
These objections highlighted residents' concerns over the increased height of the turbine and the proximity of the substation to neighbouring properties.
An Bord Pleanala refused the appeal on the grounds that the new turbines would be capable of generating energy over the 5 mega watt limit put in place.
Issue also arose over the archaeological significance of the area, which according to the planning body, works could impact areas containing recorded monuments.
