Registration for children to receive Covid vaccine to open in early January

The Taoiseach has encouraged all parents to get their children vaccinated.

Registration for vaccines for 5 to 11 year olds is expected to open over the coming weeks.

Most will be able to get a vaccine from January 10th.Ireland has a "vulnerable population" facing into Christmas -- with a million people yet to get a booster.

The Deputy Chief Medical Officer, also says people who've had an additional dose should be aware it takes a full seven days for the extra protection to take effect.
