A long awaited draft report into the treatment of a Longford Woman at a local hospital prior to her death has finally been released to her family. Bryonny Sainsbury passed away in August 2021, days after she was injured by her horse in Longford. She was originally taken to Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar before her transport to Beaumont hospital in Dublin days later.
Significant failures were identified in her treatment at Mullingar Hospital, with an inquest finding her death a result of medical misadventure. The report was due to be released last year with Bryonny's family criticising the HSE for repeatedly delaying the release of the draft report. Following a meeting with the Tánaiste Micheál Martin organised by Joe Flaherty TD, Bryonny's family were assured that the report would be issued 'shortly'.
The report was delivered to the Sainsbury family over the weekend, and will now be analysed before the draft document is returned to the authors with recommendations from the family. Following this process, the report will then be released publicly.
