Several Masses, rosaries and candlelight processions are taking place, before the relics go to Ballina on Thursday.

The relics of St Bernadette of Lourdes are arriving in Sligo today, as part of their historic tour around Ireland.

They'll be in the cathedral for the next two days, with a welcoming ceremony taking place at 2 o'clock this afternoon.

Fine Gael TD Frank Feighan, who lives in Sligo, says it's a historic event.
