A special Mass is taking place in the Cathedral of the Assumption at 7.30pm, followed by veneration of the relics.

The relics of St Bernadette of Lourdes are in Tuam today, as part of their historic tour around Ireland.

A special Mass is taking place in the Cathedral of the Assumption at 7.30pm, followed by veneration of the relics.

The relics will be in Ballaghaderreen, Athlone, Sligo and Kiltoom in south Roscommon over the next six weeks.

St Bernadette saw the Virgin Mary 18 times at the Grotto in Lourdes in 1858.
