A Longford businessman and councillor says the number of people working from home has an effect on how companies communicate redundancy
The comments come as companies including Twitter and Meta have announced large scale job cuts in recent days, with employees being notified via email whether they have been made redundant.
Séamus Butler says that companies have had to adapt to more people working from home as a result of the pandemic.
He also says, however, that human decency should always prevail.
"Some of the people have never been in an office other than their home. It's a different world in many respects. But decency towards your workforce, regardless if you're a multinational company or a very small micro employer, that decency should always be there".
