It's hoped works on a damaged bridge in north Roscommon will be complete before Christmas.
A collision on the bridge some years ago badly damaged the railing there and work began earlier this month on repairs.
This week Minister for State and local TD Frank Feighan welcomed the commencement of works at Mountallen Bridge ,Arigna.

He claims the damaged bridge had become an eyesore over the last number of years and an annoyance to many local people that it was left in a state of disrepair.
He has thanked Roscommon County Council for beginning repair works and is hopeful they will be complete before next weekend.
