Residents in South Roscommon are disappointed flood relief works at Lough Funshinagh won't progress before Christmas. Homeowners near to the former turlough expected a temporary pipe to be installed this year to remove water. Flood relief works at the lake have been held up by High Court actions by an environmental group in recent years. Local councillor Laurence Fallon, who lives near the lough, says it was hoped that work would commence much sooner. Speaking to Shannonside News, he said three observations had been submitted to An Bord Pleanála in recent weeks:
