An Athlone retail store celebrating 25 years says the town is an ideal location to do business.
Carraig Donn opened their flagship store in the Golden Island Shopping Centre in 1997 and has recently expanded into a second space at the centre to include a range of gifts and fashion.
Buying director Anne Harrison says the catchment area for the Midland's town brings customers from across Roscommon, Longford and Galway.
She believes Athlone has always been a strong shopping town which is attractive to multi-nationals.
"So yeah, it's exciting, it's great. I suppose it's fantastic the large company is doing so well within the market place and we're delighted in particular with our new store here in Athlone and with the reaction we've had since we opened it last week. I think Athlone has always been very strong for us, you know, there's a lot of big multi-national base there. You have the Department of Education bas there. It's a very good shopping town and I think Golden Island centre itself has always had something about it..."
