An Athlone medical practice has been given the go ahead to retain use of a former well known bank building in the town.
The Institute of Eye Surgery in Athlone had sought the permission for the former Permanent TSB building on Mardyke Street.
The application included retention permission for the change of use of the ground floor and basement of former bank building to a medical clinic and offices.
Also included was the retention for new signage, refurbishment and upgrade of basement level facilities and the provision of a medical waste storage area.
Retention planning permission is when an application is made to retain already constructed upgrades or buildings.
