A retired teacher from Carrick-on-Shannon is defending his profession after controversial comments from the Ryanair boss.
Michael O’Leary said he wouldn’t generally employ a lot of teachers to go out and get things done.
The Irish National Teachers Organisation said the comments were “deeply insulting”.
They were made in Mullingar at the general election campaign launch for Longford-Westmeath TD Peter Burke, from Fine Gael.
Burke has told RTE he "absolutely" doesn't agree with the comments.
Joe Bambrick is a retired teacher from Carrick-on-Shannon Community School:
Last night Fine Gael minister Peter Burke had Michael O’Leary (yes that one) launch his election campaign in Mullingar.
The sheer hypocrisy to have him on stage whinging about government wasting money at a government TD’s event. 😂😂😂
