A former Leitrim Councillor says he witnessed the influx of people arriving into Carrick-on-Shannon last weekend in advance of heightened restrictions in Dublin.
John Ward, who has been living along the N4 for almost 80 years, says the traffic was like the busiest bank holiday of the year and he claims that nine out of 10 cars had Dublin registrations.
Reports have emerged of a significant number of hen and stag parties taking place in Leitrim over the weekend.
Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show on Shannonside Northern Sound this morning, Mr Ward described what traffic was like on the N4 on Friday.
